Inspiring Entrepreneurship

CUES is collaborating with The Technology Partnership (TTP), start-up incubators and renowned individuals from industry to provide the technical and financial resources necessary for Cambridge students to create their own Venture Projects.

WHAT

An entrepreneurial competition open to any Cambridge student interested in engineering or technology.
The programme is centered around 4 categories: Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Social Impact.

WHEN

Two months this summer from beginning of August to the 13th October.

  • £500 of prize money (per category)

An entrepreneurial programme coupling Cambridge students with the support and resources to create their own venture project.

Format

The aim of the competition is to provide individuals and teams with the technical resources to facilitate creating their own venture. At the end of the 2 months, candidates will be judged on a demonstratable piece of engineering work or research they have produced and its entrepreneurial application.

Artifical Intelligence

At the core of AI, is the capability of a machine to emulate human intelligence.
Correlated with the rise of 'Big Data', AI & machine learning tools have never been more powerful for solving complex, real world issues.
Furthermore, high-level platforms such as Tensor Flow mean that this technology has never been more accessible to engineers with a passion for problem solving.

Smart Cities

A smart city is a network, composed of devices, to promote sustainable development in order to address growing urbanization challenges
Smart Cities projects could tackle energy distribution, streamline waste collection, decrease traffic congestion and even reduce crime rates with help from the IoT.

Robotics

Autonomous machines to extend the reach of human technological capabilities.
The applications of robotics can be incredibly diverse; encompassing issues from disaster relief all the way to domestic assistance.

Social Impact

Using engineering skills to change the world.
Social Impact technology uses engineering to tackle humanitarian or environmental issues and aid under-privelleged communities.
Whether through a profit or not-for-profit vehicle, these ventures deliver positive social or environmental outcomes.
